Summary of Monster
The novel "Monster" is written by Walter Dean Myers. It is about a 16 year old black boy who is called Steve Harmon and lives in Harlem. Steve is on trial for felony murder. James King is also on trial. The story is set in the 1990's in New York. The book is written like a script. The reason of that is that Steve notes everything that happens and he want to make a film of that. While the story goes on, the situation of Steve gets very clear because of the short letters in which you see the feelings and thoughts of him.
James King claims that Steve was the lookout and so he was involved in the robbery. But Steve denies that, even that he was there at that time. But there are witnesses who say something different and so Steve gets untrustworthy. But at the end of the trial the Jury acquittes him and convictes James King with felony murder.

summary of monster
The novel "Monster", written by Walter Dean Myers is about a black boy, 16 years old, who is on trial for felony murder. He is convinced of having been the lookout in the robbery, where James King and Richard Evans killed the owner of the store, the old Mr.Nesbitt. Though there are a lot of witnesses that testify against Steve, he is spoken innocent at the end. Steve' s passion is filmmaking, and therefor the whole book is written as a screenplay, that shows the emotions of the people in the book, and the cruel life in jail.

Summery of Walter Dean Myer's "Monster"
Steve Harmon a sixteen year old boy living in Harlem in the 1990s is on trial for murder. He is arrested in Cell block D of Manhattan Detention center because he was involved in a drugstore robbery where the drugstore owner Mr. Nesbitt was shot. Steve affirms that he is innocent but most of the witnesses testify against Steve. In the end he is acquitted and James King, who shot Mr. Nesbitt is found guilty. It doesn't become clear how far Steve was involved in the robbery and if he really only played the role of a "lookout".
The whole story is written as a script from Steve's point of view. To get more background information about Steve's feelings there are given personal notes of Steve while he wrote the screenplay.
